Silica brick for glass melting furnace refers to the siliceous refractory products used for building the high-temperature parts of glass tank furnace (not in contact with glass liquid). Tank furnace is a complex and huge masonry built of various refractory materials. Its vault is mostly made of silica bricks, breast wall and small furnace were also all made of silica bricks. Since the 1970s, some of them have been replaced by fused zirconium corundum or β-alumina products. Some glass kilns also use silica bricks for the vault and checker bricks of the regenerator.
