Fusion-cast alumina refractory bricks for the crown arch of oxy-fuel glass kiln are made of high-purity alumina as raw material, and a small amount of soda ash is introduced, and melted at a temperature of 2000~2200℃. The particle mix should be based on the principle of the most compact stacking, and a multi-level ratio should be adopted to increase the amount of fine powder, promote the sintering of the brick, and increase the volume density of the product.

1.Fused α-corundum bricks;
α-Al2O3 is the only stable crystal of alumina at high temperature, with a density of 3.99~4.00g/cm3, a melting point of 2050℃, a Mohs hardness of 9, and belongs to the hexagonal crystal system.
Fused α-corundum bricks are mainly composed of α-type corundum, with no glass phase in the composition, and only a small amount of β-corundum. Suitable for dissolving borosilicate glass, opal glass and melt containing sulfate. However, the glass erosion resistance of α-corundum bricks will decrease rapidly at a high temperature of 1600℃, so some borosilicate glass kilns tend to use fused quartz bricks.
2. α-β corundum bricks;
The main component is Al₂O₃ (containing 94.5% to 96.5%), and the crystal phase structure is composed of 45% to 55% α-Al₂O₃ phase and 45% to 60% β-Al₂O₃ phase.The interlacing of the two crystal phases constitutes a very dense organizational structure with excellent alkali resistance.
There is only a small amount of glass phase in the refractory brick, which will not seep out and pollute the glass melt when used.
It is an ideal material for the pool wall, kiln bottom and float glass melting furnace launder of the glass melting furnace cooling part.
3. β-corundum brick;
β-Al₂O₃ is another metamorphosis of alumina, with a molecular formula of Na₂O·11Al₂O₃, a relative density of 3.30-3.40, a Mohs hardness of 6, and a Na₂O content of up to 7% dissolved in β-Al₂O₃. Therefore, strictly speaking, β-Al₂O₃ cannot be regarded as a polycrystalline metamorphosis of Al₂O₃, but should be an aluminate group.
(1) The strength of β-corundum brick is relatively low; products composed of β-Al₂O₃ crystals have low structural strength due to the loose lattice.
(2) Strong resistance to alkali vapor corrosion; since Al₂O₃ is saturated with sodium above 2000℃, it shows extremely high corrosion resistance to alkali vapor.
(3) The thermal shock stability of β-corundum brick is also the best among fused-cast bricks.
(4) Reaction with SiO2 causes volume shrinkage; when in contact with SiO2, β-corundum easily turns into α-corundum, resulting in a larger volume shrinkage and causing cracks in the bricks.
